Suspect arrested for possession of a controlled substance Officers from the Community Policing Unit arrested a suspect on parole for possession of a controlled substance. The subject was seen parking his vehicle in a handicapped parking stall in front of the 7-Eleven store on Alvarado Niles Road. Since the vehicle did not have a disability parking placard or license plate, Officers contacted the driver to determine if he was handicapped. The driver was seen crushing a white powdery substance, possibly crack cocaine.
Residential burglary A residential burglary was reported on Korbel Street on Friday, August 13. The owner saw the suspect exiting through the front door when she arrived at her home. The subject fled from the area in a vehicle that was parked across the street. Though no description of the suspect is available, the resident was able to record the license plate number. The case is under investigation.
Six people arrested for fighting in public Five adults and one juvenile were arrested on Saturday, August 14, for getting involved in a physical fight at the SDES Hall located on Watkins Street. They were charged for violations of the law including public intoxication and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer in the performance of his duties.
Armed robbery at Copa De Oro Drive Two suspects, confronted a man as he was exiting his vehicle at his residence on Copa De Oro Drive. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. While held at gunpoint, the second subject struck the victim several times. The suspects robbed the victim of his backpack and money.
Vehicle accident on Union City Boulevard On Sunday, August 15, officers responded to a vehicle accident on Union City Boulevard near Kohoutek Way. Investigators determined that the driver was driving at speeds unsafe for road conditions and, as a result, failed to negotiate a turn in the road. The vehicle slid sideways and rolled over. Due to a fuel leak, the first officers at the scene had to extricate the driver from the vehicle. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Boyfriend beats girlfriend On Monday, August 16 on 'E' Street, a boyfriend held his girlfriend against her will and battered her causing great bodily injury. They both were living together. Police are treating the incident as "attempted homicide." The victim told Police that she lost consciousness during the beating and when she regained consciousness, her boyfriend had left the house. The victim drove herself to the hospital for treatment. Her boyfriend has been arrested.
Man arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition Police arrested a man for being in possession of a handgun. Two loaded magazines and several other rounds of ammunition were found inside the subject's house. His mother was also arrested during the execution of the warrant for impeding the officers and concealing contraband. |
