Accessible group camp dedication
Submitted By Shelly Lewis
On Saturday, September 11 at 10 a.m., the East Bay Regional Park District will dedicate a recently completed group camp at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont. Dairy Glen is a 50-person group camp named for the dairy farmers of the 1800s in the region. It was recently refurbished to offer better accessibility for those using wheelchairs and mobility devices, and updated amenities to all campers.
The Regional Parks Foundation, a non-profit that raises private support for the parks and programs of the East Bay Regional Park District, funded the camp additions. It also funded group camps at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline Park in Richmond in 2009 and Round Valley Regional Preserve between Clayton and Brentwood in 2007.
The dedication ceremony will be held at the campsite at Coyote Hills Regional Park, 8000 Patterson Ranch Road, Fremont. Speakers include Doug Siden, East Bay Regional Park District Board President and Jay Gilson, Regional Parks Foundation Board President. The public is invited to attend. RSVPs are required by calling (510) 544-2200 or bmontano@ebparks.org.
