McClung qualifies for 2010 U.S. Amateur

Mac McClung, an Irvington High graduate and current member of the St. Mary's College golf team, aced out over 80 other golfers to qualify for the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championships.
McClung finished second (out of 84 players) in his 36-hole sectional qualifying round, held Monday, July 26, at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
McClung was one of over 10,000 players across the U.S. attempting to qualify for 312 available spots in the U.S. Amateur Championships.
McClung and his father and caddie, Frank,, will head north in mid-August to participate in this year's U.S. Amateur, being held Aug. 23-29 at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
