BandFest

Looking for a change of pace from frantic, overwhelming summer activities? Then head on over to Hayward's Memorial Park this Saturday and have a relaxing afternoon picnic while listening to some great rock music.
Local non-profit artist organization, Bands4Bands is proud to present BandFest 2010. More than a thousand people are expected to attend the popular music event this year. Nine bands, including 6:AM!, Analog Soul, Hands of Time, Meresol, Tara Tinsely, Cat Bone, Stunt Double, and Dan Summers, are ready to perform and represent the Bay Area with all genres of rock music. "We have some excellent acts this year," enthused Peter Schaaphok, President/Founder of Bands4Bands.
Bands4Bands is a local non-profit organization that serves as a support network for local performing artists. An active charitable organization, Bands4Bands is committed to make music accessible to everyone in the community. Schaaphok stated, "We do canned food drives and toy drives, but feel our goal [is] to start a free lesson program. [But] these kids will need instruments, so we are starting an instrument library as well."
BandFest attendees can help with Bands4Bands' charitable efforts by bringing a new or used musical instrument to augment its instrument lending library or by donating canned food to support the Salvation Army.
For over ten years, BandFest has become a favorite summer music festival fixture in the Tri-City area. There is something for everybody, including an on-site play area for younger attendees. The park's upper knoll will showcase vendors and local artists displaying their finest wares. Performing bands will have their own merchandise for sale as well. Don't forget to visit the Bands4Bands' booth to find a good home for unused musical instruments.
Schaaphok is looking forward to the production end of the event, as well as "coordinating the bands, sound, [and] vendors in a timely well organized event." He added that it won't be "very flashy, [but there will be lots of] fun, sun, and music!"
