June 18, 2010 > Corporate Citizen of the Year Corporate Citizen of the Year Submitted By Gaye Morando Milpitas Chamber of Commerce has named Walmart in Milpitas the 2010 Corporate Citizen of the Year. Walmart has been an active member of the chamber since 1994 when the store opened for business in the Milpitas community. Located at 301 Ranch Drive in the McCarthy Ranch Shopping Center, Walmart has demonstrated that their store in Milpitas is a good corporate citizen. Aside from providing consistent revenue to the local economy, the store brings numerous employment opportunities to Milpitas residents. As a 16-year member of the Chamber of Commerce, Walmart defines what it means to be a true community partner by supporting Milpitas non-profit organizations, government and schools with annual support of approximately $30,000, in addition to making available funds for national programs and grants. Milpitas Walmart will be one of the shining stars that will be recognized at the Milpitas Chamber's 53rd Anniversary Installation and Awards Banquet scheduled for Thursday, June 24 at the Sheraton Hotel, Milpitas.
