MSJLL Senior Giants Big Two-Out Hits Key to Victory
Submitted By Ed Hugo
Logan Graves' first-inning two-out, two-run, stand-up triple and Kevin Finch's two-out, two-run double in the fourth were the key blows in the Mission San Jose Little League Senior Giants 11-1 victory over the Fremont American Little League Pirates.
Patrick Yang preceded Graves' first-inning drive with his own run-scoring single. Brandon Fuhs added a two-run double in the sixth inning to cap off the Giants offensive outburst.
Finch, Jeff Chu and Kenny Jacoby shared the mound duties for the Giants and combined to limit the Pirate batters to three hits while striking out seven. After the Pirates scored their lone run in the first inning, Finch, Chu and Jacoby allowed only two base runners to reach as far as third base the rest of the game. The Giants' defense supported their pitching trio with another steady game in the field as they committed only one error.
The Giants now enter into a best-of-three MSJLL Senior playoff tournament against the MSJLL A's to determine which team will represent MSJLL in the upcoming District 14 Tournament of Champions.
