In East Bay Swim League dual-meet action on Saturday, June 12, the Newark Bluefins defeated the Warm Spring Gators rather convincingly, 579.5 to 371.5.

The Bluefins had 73 different swimmers score in the 579.5 to 371.5 victory over the Gators. Sam Haber led all scorers with 18 while Jonathan Mui, Jerry Quan and Erwin Ahlers each added 12 points. Allison Garrett, Jesica Kull, Neda Ansari and Fiara Llaguno all scored in double figures.

Kyle Brown (5) shaved over 22 seconds off his best time for 8-and-under 25-yard breast stroke; Kayla Strand added a personal best in the 11 to 12-year-old 50-yard back stroke by nearly four seconds.

"I'm so happy" said Strand, "I've worked very hard this week."

The Bluefins evened their record to 1-1 with the victory on Saturday.

"It is important to improve each week and I'm proud of our swimmers" said Bluefins coach Gordon Crosby. "We have a lot of work to do but have a great group of kids."

The Newark Bluefins are in action again this Saturday, June 19, in an evening meet against Mission Valley at Newark Memorial High School.
