Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival

More than 350 historic racecars, some dating as far back as Pre-World War I, graced the turns of Infineon Raceway for a weekend of racing at the debut of the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival.
A total of 13 classes competed in this event that expects to be an annual competition that brought world-class historic racers to the Sonoma Valley. Bay area winners on Sunday, June 6, included Petaluma's Dave Vegher taking the checkers in Group 5B (1965-1988 IMSA GTP Cars), with his 1976 Lola; Danville's Peter Giddings in his1935 Alfa-Romeo; and Larkspur's Art Hebert piloting a 1963 Lola.
Giddings competed in Group 1B (1914-1949 Pre-War Sports and Racing Cars), while Hebert won in Group 4B (1958-1963 Formula Cars).
