Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight
This week the player spotlight shines on swimming star Logan Granzella.
Swimming three nights a week is not only fun but it keeps Logan strong and sleek. He's been swimming since he was 6 months old and currently in his second year on a swim team. Logan, 6, is a tri-athlete-to-be and does many other things in his active life.
Regular swims at American High are just part of it. It all began with T-ball but now Granzella also covers a few positions for the Niles-Centerville Little League Farm division Hot Rods team. He puts his play time to good use each day and utilizes the monkey bars to get in some pull-ups then hitting the dirt for some push-ups too.
Logan's Mom and Dad stay involved and are great influences for him. His Dad coaches him on the Hot Rods while Mom manages the swimming drills. The biggest challenge for Granzella might be running with his dog Dunkan. He says, "That dog is just hard to keep up with."
This kindergartner who hails from Sunol Glen School likes reading, writing and drawing under the supervision of his favorite teacher Miss Mercer. Living near the tracks and hearing the whistle blow has had an influence on Logan as he aspires to be an engineer and drive his own train someday soon.
For relaxation Logan likes to play a little Bakugan or with his Legos set. When He tires with that it's back to the sidewalk for a little action on his skateboard or scooter.
When the dinner bell rings he knows what he wants and that's a burrito from Rubios. This young man likes his dessert so much he carries a back-up plan. If there's no peanut butter cookies and vanilla ice cream in the house he'll just open up a bag of Oreo cookies.
