Milpitas Unified School District High Quality Education and Local Control Measure B
Measure B will help protect local schools from state budget cuts; provide revenue to stabilize local school funding; help maintain existing math, science, engineering, arts, music, athletic programs and smaller class sizes and help prevent reduction in classroom instruction days.
Milpitas Unified School District will levy an annual parcel tax of $84 for five years, with annual audits, exemptions for senior citizens, no money for district office administrators and citizen oversight.
If the measure secures two-thirds voter-approval, it will generate approximately $1.5M of additional revenue, annually.
Approval of Measure B does not remove the need for spending reductions. The school district faces a budget deficit of almost $7M in 2011-12 having already reduced its budget by $10M over the last seven years. |
