President Barack Obama will visit the Solyndra business campus in Fremont on Wednesday, May 26 according to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. Solyndra, founded in 2005, received $535 million in loan guarantees through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act last year and is in the process of constructing new manufacturing facilities adjacent to its existing headquarters. With the infusion of government support, Solyndra which manufactures cylindrical photovoltaic panels has become a "poster child" for jobs creation and a surge to embrace a "green" energy-related economy by local, regional and national officials. |
