Calle Oriente Community Park planting
Submitted By Jennifer Valentine
Mayor Livengood will welcome neighbors on the new basketball court. Arborist and City of Milpitas employee Mike Clark will provide an overview about park plants and trees. Community volunteers then receive instructions to plant flowers throughout the park. Volunteers will get expert planting tips, free starter plants and certificates of appreciation for the community planting. This is a rain or shine event.
Funded in part through federal Community Development Block Grant - Recovery Program ($100,000) and the City of Milpitas Capital Improvement Program ($417,949), this "mini-park" fulfills the City of Milpitas priority to improve the quality of life for Milpitas residents.
Features include new playground equipment that exceeds safety requirements, a basketball court, LED energy-efficient lighting with motion sensors, a drinking fountain, and shade structures over playground and picnic areas, barbeques and landscaping. The park is readily accessible for individuals with disabilities in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act.
Parking is available on Daniel and Calle Oriente Courts.
