CAPS are flying high
With a toss of their hats, graduates of the Community Ambassador Program for Seniors (CAPS) celebrated their certification as members of an elite corps. Trained to provide information and assistance to a wide variety of ethnic and social groups in the area, CAPS graduates can connect Seniors with local resources and opportunities. This is the fourth, and largest, group, to graduate from this program.
CAPS, an initiative of "Pathways to Positive Aging," is a project initially funded by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and administered by City of Fremont Human Services and Tri-City Elder Coalition.
The ceremony, held Thursday, May 13 at the Newark/Fremont Hilton, was attended by a distinguished group of community members including Keynote Speaker Fremont Mayor Bob Wasserman, CAPS Program Manager Asha Chandra, Director of Human Services (Fremont) Suzanne Shenfil, Jo Cazenave representing U.S. Representative Pete Stark, Katie Tague representing State Senator Ellen Corbett and Karen Grimsich representing Aging and Family Services (Fremont).
