Candidates for California State Assembly District 20

(Fairview, Fremont, Newark, Sunol, Union City, Milpitas and portions of Castro Valley, Hayward, Pleasanton and San Jose)

Adnan Shahab (R)
The State of California is in trouble. Unemployment is skyrocketing, many struggle just to make ends meet and the state faces a $20 billion budget deficit. Our elected officials have tried the same old strategies and have failed us miserably. It is time to try something new; it is time for someone different.

We need to control government spending and get it off the backs of the people, allowing individuals to reap the rewards of their hard work. The days of influence by special interests and big money must come to an end. We need to stop choosing our elected officials based on their party affiliations and the misconceptions that many have based on those political ties. Instead, it is time to find the best individual to lead us moving forward.

We need to elect candidates who are willing to stand before the people and be judged on their positions on the issues. We need leaders who have the integrity to stand up for what they believe in and make the difficult decisions. I am exactly the kind of political outsider that California needs at a time like this.

Please support Adnan Shahab for State Assembly.

Bob Wieckowski (D)
California is in trouble right now and needs proven, experienced leaders to navigate it out of this financial mess. That's why I'm running for State Assembly.

As a lifelong Democrat, small business owner and City Councilmember, I have a long record of building coalitions and getting results for this community.

I've helped create thousands of middle-class jobs, fought for schools, kept neighborhoods safe, protected open space, established parks and recreational opportunities, secured over $160M for public transportation, led a trade mission to China and helped attract high-tech companies to our region.

As an expert in balancing budgets and fiscal policy, I've also enabled small businesses to keep their doors open and helped hundreds of families stay in their homes during the economic crisis.

In the Assembly, I'll rise above petty partisan politics to solve problems for this state. I'll stand up to special interest, fight to close tax loopholes to ensure corporations and wealthy CEO's pay their fair share, and end the cuts-only budgets that continue to devastate our families, seniors and disabled. I'll lead the new investments that stimulate our failing economy.

I'm proud to be endorsed by the Democratic Party, teachers, nurses, firefighters, police, women and environmentalists.

Garrett Yee (D)
Results for our community, education and the economy, and reforming State government are my top priorities.

As a Trustee at Ohlone Community College, and a father, I am committed to ensuring California fully funds K-12 and college education, improves student achievement and expands access to higher education.

To get our economy moving again, we must invest in small businesses and ensure our local community colleges offer training and education for the jobs of the future.

Two values we need in Sacramento are transparency and accountability. For the past 20 years I have worked to ensure corporations and insurance companies play by the rules, monitoring workplace safety and fair wages, to protect California workers. I will be a watchdog and make it a priority to stop state raids on local funding, cut waste, and hold business and government accountable.

I'm a dedicated public servant, an Iraq War veteran, a practical leader committed to bringing people together to get things done.

I have support from democratic leaders including Congressman Garamendi, neighboring Assemblymembers Coto, Hayashi, Beall and our former Assemblymember Dutra, local leaders including Milpitas Mayor Livengood, Newark Mayor Smith, Union City Mayor Green and over 600 people from our community.

Vote Garrett Yee!
