India Community Center (ICC) was host to the largest table tennis tournament of 2010 in the US, held Friday, April 30, to Sunday, May 2. The three days of competition were filled with champion adult and youth players, notable sponsors and excited fans.
The event hosted 19 events, including doubles and individual competitions, for 238 registered players. Spectators in chairs lined the Table Tennis Center's floor, savoring close-up views of the tables. Top players were given free accommodation by the ICC, with star players coming from around the country and internationally to compete from Texas, Nevada, Canada, Iran, India, China and Southern California.

The ICC's Table Tennis Center is the largest of its kind in the country, and the only table tennis facility to offer comprehensive community programs, including youth camps, a training program, leagues and hosting services for international teams who come to the facility to train. The ICC has the largest junior training program in the country and has fostered the development of two world champions and multiple nationally-ranked champions, and will be sending players who started their careers at ICC to the 2012 Olympics.
Table tennis is growing in popularity in the US, but the ICC's Milpitas location is ideal for serving the large Indian and Chinese populations in the Bay Area, who come from countries where the sport already enjoys widespread popularity. The Table Tennis Center serves as an important spot for members of both communities, where they can hone their skills as well as cheer on heroes during tournaments.
Through its activities, the Table Tennis Center encourages community members and their children to connect with their culture, and by offering live Web casting of tournaments, such as the California State Tournament, the ICC ensures that family and community members worldwide are able to watch events in real-time.
ICC relies on donations to keep the Table Tennis Center and its programs open to the larger community at little-to-no cost. To help keep the Table Tennis program up and running, the ICC is holding a Table Tennis Fundraiser on Sunday, June 6.
The star-studded night will include celebrity matches between Anil Godhwani (ICC co-founder), Steve Westly (former California State Controller and avid table tennis supporter), six-time Yugoslavian champion Biba Golic, the No.-1 US men's player Lupi Lupulesku, world-ranked players Ariel Hsing and Lily Zhang, and others.
All donations go directly to the Junior Training Program, and limited VIP tickets are available. For more information or to purchase tickets, please www.indiacc.org.
