James Logan baseball extends its streak

James Logan High School continued its winning ways by defeating Mission San Jose, 8-4, on Wednesday, May 5. The Colts sprinkled 11 hits and committed three errors in the game. Mission San Jose had eight hits and zero errors.

Later in the week, the Colts had home-field advantage and solidified its seventh victory in a row against Irvington, 6-3, on Friday, May 7. The team is 11-1-0 at home. James Logan's bats stayed alive from its early week game. The Colts gained the lead over Irvington in the first inning and never looked back, collecting 12 hits and committing one error.

The Colts' record improves to 17-5-0 and 9-1-0 in the Mission Valley Athletic League.

Washington allowed a single run this week to ride a streak of its own. Newark Memorial, who had won four of its last five games prior to facing Washington, lost 8-0 on Wednesday, May 5. Newark Memorial was limited to three hits and committed six errors. The Huskies had 11 hits and committed one error.

Washington had another offensive day when it defeated Kennedy, 11-1, on Friday, May 7. Washington is 14-9-0 overall and 8-3-0 in the MVAL. It will look to extend its streak to six consecutive victories against the surging Colts in Union City on Wednesday, May 12.

Irvington handed American its sixth consecutive loss on Wednesday, May 5, with a final score of 4-1. American's early 1-0 lead in the second inning vanished due to a Viking two-run third inning. Irvington, who is 12-10-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the MVAL, scattered six hits in the game and made two errors. American (6-15-0, 1-9-0) was limited to a single run and committed one error.

American will face Kennedy on Wednesday, May 12. Kennedy is the only MVAL team the Eagles have defeated this season.
