Union City Fire Department reported a fire at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, in the 900 block of H Street. Smoke from a two-alarm blaze briefly trapped residents at an apartment complex.
Three vehicles in a car port were engulfed in flames, while five other vehicles were also damaged. A house in close proximity was also damaged, according to Assistant Fire Chief Andy Smith.
The blaze was controlled within 20 minutes, and residents were free to enter after the smoke cleared. "The cause of the fire is still under investigation," said Smith. There were no injuries reported.
Firefighters from the Alameda County Fire Department and both Fremont and Hayward Fire Departments aided in extinguishing the fire. |
