Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight: Miranda Grasseschi
This week the spotlight illuminates Miranda Grasseschi.
This freshman at Castro Valley High School (CVHS) is quite an accomplished wrestler. Grasseschi recently posted a 25-15 season record and aced the 2010 North Coast Section Championship by pinning all three of her opponents.
Miranda has worked hard at perfecting her wrestling moves over the last four years to achieve these results and it shows. She's no stranger to athletics and has been participating in track since third grade by competing in the 4-by-100 relay, shot-put, triple jump and high jump. Also savvy with soccer Grasseschi has covered the midfield and forward positions, too.
Moving forward, her soccer devotion will be to the Castro Valley Youth Soccer League while her track and field competition will be put to rest. Miranda's main focus in athletics will be on dominating the mat. She says that wrestling is her sport of choice because that six-minute challenge takes everything she has to offer.
Grasseschi's favorite subjects at CVHS are math and PE. She currently carries a grade point average (GPA) of 3.67 while the CVHS girls wrestling team holds the highest GPA of any team in the state. Miranda will proudly ride those stats right into a college scholarship if she can. She's not exactly sure what her career path will be but feels that it will involve her interest in science or math.
When she's not competing or at practice Miranda enjoys hanging out with her friends. Next in line would be going to the movies or Facebooking for fun. She also uses her spare time to play some friendly soccer to help keep her sporting skills honed. This much activity would increase anyone's appetite and when she gets to choose her favorite dinner Mexican cuisine is her choice followed by a fresh seasonal fruit for dessert.
