FC Red and Teal Pride
In recognition of women's health awareness, FC Gold Pride will be wearing different colors than the usual black and gold.
For the club's Mothers' Day weekend match on Saturday, May 8, at Castro Valley High School Athletic Stadium against the Chicago Red Stars, the Pride will be wearing red game jerseys, in support of the American Heart Association's Red Dress Campaign.
Each one-of-a-kind jersey will be part of an in-game silent auction to help support the fight against heart disease and stroke. The in-game auction will end in the 70th minute of the game. Four players' jerseys -- Marta, Camille Abily, Christine Sinclair and Tiffeny Milbrett -- will be auctioned online, with the bidding ending on Wednesday, May 12, at noon PT, giving fans across the world the opportunity to purchase the unique jersey.
In addition to the red jerseys, the team will be wearing teal laces, bringing awareness to the ongoing battle with ovarian cancer. Bringing awareness to ovarian cancer is a cause that FC Gold Pride owner Nancy NeSmith is very close to, losing her mother to the disease. |
