Hayward Animal Shelter Volunteers are sponsoring another adoption event on Saturday, May 8. Rabbits and more rabbits, plus dogs, cats and kittens of all colors, shapes, sizes and ages are looking for new homes.
Adopters must complete a short application form. All family members need to meet the adoptee once they are approved to adopt in a "get-acquainted" room at the shelter.
"We have too many bunnies at the shelter in urgent need of forever-loving homes. I suspect that between now and the event more bunnies will arrive. Unfortunately, everything is based on time and space in the shelter world, viz. euthanasia for those furry friends who do not find a home or if space is limited. Right now we have a lot of young bunnies and a few adults. That being said, people don't have to wait until May 8; they can come in during the week to adopt," said Hayward Animal Shelter Volunteer Christina Gin.
"Most of the bunnies we have now, including a mom with five babies, arrived before Easter. I believe we should be getting Easter bunny rejects soon because the kids will tire of them. Hopefully, I'm wrong and we shan't be inundated... So far, we've received one young bunny after Easter, a little lop-eared bunny," added Gin.
