Anthony Vicini's campaign for an amateur bowling title and $50,000 ended in the first round in Las Vegas.
The Fremont resident, who was awarded an invitation to AMF's National In-league tournament after a strong home performance in the district finals at Mowry Lanes, finished with the score of 122, 93, 128 and 194 in Division C at the Orleans Hotel and Casino from April 16-17.
The 34-year-old represented the San Francisco and Sacramento district, bowling against 26 other amateurs from around the country during the weekend-long tournament.
A total of 108 bowlers competed in the tournament's four divisions. Tim Brancato of AMF Empire Lanes in New York earned first place and $50,000 in Vicini's division. Junn Carlos of Bowl-O-Drome in Torrance won first place in Division B. Steve Sullivan of Twin Star Lanes finished first in Division C. Lonnie Jones of Florida Lanes was the winner of the open division.
