Submitted By Andrew Kong Knight
After a year in the making, award-winning artist Andrew Kong Knight and mural artist assistants Alani Rose and Chris Wyers complete the largest public art project ever created in Knight's hometown, Hayward.
Part of the City Gateway Project on Foothill Boulevard, the mural will be unveiled and dedicated by Mayor Mike Sweeney at a public ceremony on Saturday, May 1. Hayward community, friends and supporters are invited to attend and enjoy the party afterwards.
The celebration will include a pot-luck barbecue to which the public is asked to bring a favorite dish to share, or something to BBQ, and a chair to enjoy the music and view the new artwork.
There will be live music from the Hayward High Band, The Cires, Musica-Humana Blues, Angry Tired Teachers and other groups and performers. Local business vendors will also attend.
