Mary Grange takes great pride in her daily duties of guarding Bunker Elementary School children as they cross the street while walking to and from school. As a result of her exemplary service to the community, she has been recognized as the 2010 Outstanding School Crossing Guard of the Year for the City of Newark by All City Management Services.
Grange has served the students and community for the past seven years at Bunker Elementary School, in addition to working as a schoolyard monitor. She enjoys the time she spends with the children and knows all of them by name.
Chosen for this award because of her reliability, pleasant demeanor and friendliness, she performs her duties in a professional and safe manner. Mayor David Smith commended Grange for her efforts in protecting the children of Newark. School crossing guards are a boon to the community, helping children safely cross busy intersections on their way to and from school and control traffic flow around schools in the morning, at lunch time and at the end of the school day. |
