April 7, 2010 > Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight: Troy Ermish Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight: Troy Ermish This week the player spotlight takes us back for a visit to check the status on Fremont’s Troy Ermish. Things are looking good for Ermish in 2010 as he’s had some big opportunities come his way lately. The two-time import drag racing and three-time vintage road racing champ was recently approached and asked to pilot a car in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Grand National West Touring division. Backed by the Cooks Collision Family, and along with driver Travis Milburn, Ermish plans to include all NASCAR West events in his racing schedule this year. It will be a busy season for Troy. With his long-time lady friend Ashley Petersen’s support, the “Iron Man” will take on this new division all the while continuing to compete in both SRL division and vintage class racing that have brought him up to this level of NASCAR West. At the core of Ermish and his 510 performance shop stands vintage auto racing. Again he will soon put one of his Datsun 510’s to the test on April 25-26 at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway in Monterey. Everything has a purpose and so it goes for all of this hard work and racing. Even with his Sunoco Rookie of the Year nomination there’s a big learning curve ahead in this new division. After getting his feet wet in 2010 Ermish has a target goal of winning two championships next year by taking both SRL and NASCAR West in 2011 if all goes as planned. Ermish has some great backing and that’s what might make his dreams come true. His entire team from SRL will be wrenching and prepping all of the cars for both divisions. He’s also maintained the devotion of his sponsors with Allied Auto continuing to back him up in SRL and Kinder’s Meats now delivering the barbeque for both SRL and West division race teams. When asked, Troy’s favorite food has toggled a bit. He still favors a Mexican cuisine but now has a tough time deciding between Chipoltle and Kinder’s for dinner.
