What is in your Easter Basket this year? For those planning to attend Union City's Annual Spring Egg Hunt Extravaganza, the answer is a treasure trove of goodies including Easter eggs, books and gift certificates to restaurants like Round Table Pizza, Hometown Buffet, or T.G.I. Fridays. The Egg Hunt, which has been delighting children for 10 years, will be held Saturday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Kennedy Community Center in Union City.
This extravaganza is not your ordinary Easter Egg Hunt. Complete with a mini-carnival, Scholastic Book Fair, an optional pancake breakfast (extra $5 cost), and raffle prizes, the Spring Egg Hunt Extravaganza lives up to its name. Raffle prizes include $50 worth of toys donated by Wal-Mart, gift certificates to Round Table Pizza, free appetizer gift cards from T.G.I. Fridays, and 'Kids Free Buffet' passes at Home Town Buffet.
The egg hunts are divided by age: the Wee Little Hare Egg hunt for ages 1-2, Cottontail Egg Craze for ages 3-4, Bouncy Bunny Egg Bamboozle for ages 5-7, and Really Rowdy Rabbits Egg Relay for ages 8-10. Egg hunts will begin at 10 a.m., though the carnival, book fair, and pancake breakfast begin at 9 a.m.
Union City Leisure program coordinator Marissa Vera says her favorite part of the event is "[seeing] the children rush around with big smiles on their faces while picking up the eggs. You can also see the excitement in their eyes as they open each plastic eggs wondering what prize they will discover inside!" In addition to the assortment of prizes and games available for the kids, each participant will receive a goodie bag to take home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will also be present for photo opportunities.
Tickets for this event are $10 pre-registered and $13 on the day of with an additional $5 fee for the pancake breakfast. Parents can pre-register at any of the centers (Kennedy Community Center, Holly Community Center, Union City Sports Center, etc.) or fax in their registration form with credit card information.
Registration forms can be found online at www.ci.union-city.ca.us (From the home page, click "Leisure Services" on left hand side, then "activity guide," which will bring you to a link to the .pdf version of the registration form).
