Nature's wonders await you
The Fremont Art Association announces Thomas Cory; the associations' second Showcase Artist. Cory's works in acrylics reveal his deep appreciation for nature. His showcase, "Nature's Wonders" will be on display from Saturday, April 9 through Friday, April 30. Cory is inspired by nature and states, "Nature's wonders reveal hidden treasures, often unnoticed or seen only as fleeting moments. These marvels wait to be discovered. Nature's wonders and mysteries whether witnessed in their full splendor or in simplicity can awaken, inspire and encourage, bathing the soul and inviting us to cling to those experiences. Attempting to capture Nature's wonders, to share my experiences, is always a daunting task. For me taking in or painting nature's beauty and wonders is like breathing, to not respond would be futile."
Thomas Cory's graduate studies began at UCLA under the influence of Richard Diebenkorn. Two months prior to graduating Cory was drafted. For the next three years, as an officer, Cory created paintings and took photographs for the 82nd Airborne Division. Unable to return to UCLA to complete his MFA, Cory enrolled into a MFA program at Lone Mountain College, working under the mentorship of Robert Brawley. While in school he also began teaching. For 32 years Cory taught art and exhibited his paintings. In 2005 he retired from teaching to devote my time and energy to painting and ministry. Cory's life motto is "Soli Deo Gloria" (Glory to God alone.) For more information on this accomplished artist, please visit his website at, www.thomascory.com.
You can meet the artist at a reception held in his honor at the gallery on Sunday, April 11 from 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. A variety of new works from additional member artists will compliment the gallery's second quarter offerings.
