Mitigation Monitoring Committee seeks applicants

Submitted By Kunle Odumade

On March 9, 2010, the Fremont City Council approved the Formation Guidelines for the Mitigation Monitoring Committee (MMC) for the East West Connector Project. The purpose and responsibilities of the MMC are to monitor the implementation of project mitigations in accordance with the East-West Connector Project's Mitigation Monitoring Plan (approved by ACTA, Fremont and Union City Councils). The MMC will communicate the results of monitoring efforts to the ACTA Board and the City Councils of both the City of Fremont and the City of Union City or to the respective City Council depending on the location of the impact or the type of impact. Guidelines call for six members of the committee, three residents each from Fremont and Union City appointed by the City Council of the respective city.

The City of Fremont is seeking applications from Fremont residents interested in serving on the Committee. Applications will be accepted until 5 pm on April 16, 2010. After applications are received, they will be provided to the Mayor, who will present his nominations to the Council for approval.
