(AP), Mar 27 - Hayward police say a 4-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle. Police say the boy was hit by the SUV as he played in a parking lot of an apartment complex around 3:15 p.m. Friday. Hayward police Lt. Bryan Matthews says the driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old resident of the complex, is cooperating while police investigate. Authorities have not released the name of the boy or of the driver.
