Union City woman stabbed in neck

On Tuesday, March 16 at about 5:30 a.m., the Union City Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon call at 33450 University Drive in Union City. When officers arrived they located a female victim who had been stabbed multiple times in the neck area. The 22-year-old female victim was transported to a local area hospital and is in stable condition at this time.
Due to the active and ongoing investigation the victim's name is being withheld at this time. The motive for this crime is under investigation. The suspect, 27-year-old Daniel Cardenas, a Union City resident, was briefly restrained by witnesses but fled prior to police arrival.
Union City Police Investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Daniel Cardenas of Union City. The warrant is for "Attempted Homicide, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Terrorist Threats." This no bail arrest warrant was signed by a judge on Tuesday, March 16.
