FRC Rolls Back Childcare Fees
Submitted By Christine LaBadie
Yep, it's true. This month the Fremont FRC (Family Resource Center) reduced fees for Discovery Cove, their onsite drop-in childcare center. Childcare fees were $8.50 per hour and the new hourly rate has been rolled back to $7.00. What was already a competitive rate is now a terrific bargain!
One of the FRC's key goals is to help individuals and families become more financially successful and reducing the childcare rate for the remainder of 2010 is seen as one way to help Tri-City families afford excellent drop-in childcare in a difficult economy.
Discovery Cove offers drop-in childcare for well children aged 2 to 10 for up to twelve hours a week. The center is staffed by caring, experienced personnel from the City of Fremont's Tiny Tot Program, and children enjoy a safe and attractive center with fun activities like arts & crafts and games. For qualifying clients of the FRC, children ages 0-12 are accepted and fees are waived.
The Fremont FRC is a collaborative of 27 government and non-profit social service agencies under one roof who serve families in the Tri-City area. Services include: employment assistance; childcare information; counseling and case management; assistance for veterans, immigrants and the disabled; nutrition services; health insurance counseling; financial education and counseling; free tax preparation service plus much more.
Discovery Cove is located at the Fremont Family Resource Center, 39155 Liberty Street in Suite #H850 and is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For more information, see www.fremont.gov/FamilyResourceCenter or call (510) 574-2010.
