Auditions for "Nunsense"
Stage 1 will hold auditions for their play "Nunsense" directed by Jim Burris. Please bring sheet music in your key. Please no songs from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Be prepared for a cold reading and wear comfortable clothes for a dance audition. Tap dancing is helpful.
All roles are open:
Reverend Mother (Sister Mary Regina, Mother Superior) Mezzo-Soprano.
A model Mother Superior, even if she is overweight. An outrageous, quick-witted, feisty soul who can't resist the spotlight and knows how to get a laugh. She tries to convince us she's strict.
Sister Mary Hubert (Mistress of Novices)-Alto
The second in command, a kind person, understanding and diplomatic. Supposed to be dignified, but ready to kick up her heels with the slightest bit of encouragement, always competing with the Mother Superior.
Sister Robert Anne-Mezzo Soprano
A streetwise tough character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior, she is a tough streetwise nun with a heart of gold. Can hit a baseball "out of the park."
Sister Amnesia (Sister Mary Paul)-High Soprano
The picture of innocence, very sweet. She can't remember her past (after a crucifix fell on her head) so she looks at each new day with a childlike joy. She is the voice, spoken and sung, for the puppet, Sister Mary Annette.
Sister Mary Leo-Mezzo Soprano
The novice, a former professional dancer, always eager to display her talent. Young, impressionable, and easily led astray. Wants to be the first Nun Ballerina
