Suspect in Fremont homicide shot by police

Santa Clara County sheriff's SWAT team and Fremont Police shot a suspect wanted for the murder of 49 year old Fremont resident, Larry L. Lopez. The victim was found dead on Monday, March 1 at 100 Block of Sycamore Street in Fremont. Suspect Sonny Lopez was the nephew of the murder victim.
34- year-old Sonny Lopez was shot and killed in Cupertino while leaving the apartment in which he was believed to be staying. According to Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, Public Information Officer, Sgt. Rick Sung, the suspect was also wanted for the fatal beating of a 96 year-old man during a robbery in Saratoga last year in December. "Suspect had a gun in his waistband, he reached for the gun and the officers shot him," said Fremont Police Department, Sergeant Chris Mazzone. The cause of the Larry Lopez's death has not been released by the police.
