Parenting class for parents of pre-teens and teenagers

Fremont Youth & Family Services, a division of the City of Fremont's Human Services Department will be hosting an upcoming session of the Parent Project starting March 3.
Parent Project(r) is a thirteen-week parenting course for parents with teenagers or pre-teens. Parents learn effective prevention and intervention techniques to help their teens grow into safe and competent adults.
Developed by police, counselors and educators, THE PARENT PROJECT(r):
Offers parents a way to love and show affection to their kids again.
Teaches effective ways to discipline out-of-control or strong willed kids, thereby reducing conflicts and ineffective arguing.
Offers tips for parents to help their child improve school performance and attendance.
Helps parents in recognizing, confronting and intervening into any substance abuse and gang involvement.
The course will be held Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. beginning March 3 at the Fremont Family Resource Center (Millennium Room), located at 39155 Liberty Street in Fremont.
Instructors Kathleen Brown and Jody Montgomery are both certified Parent Project(r) facilitators. Kathleen is on the counseling team at Youth and Family Services and has worked extensively with adolescents and their families. Jody has taught 20 years in local public schools and has facilitated parent/ teacher/ adolescent educational enrichment workshops.

Registration fee is $175 per person or $250 per couple (includes class workbook). Financial assistance is available.
