On Tuesday, February 9 at 6:40 a.m., Fremont Police and Fire responded to the report of a shooting at 1050 Quintana Wy, Fremont. Upon arrival, officers located a 50 year old male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as Fremont resident, Rei-Shiun Lin. The suspect, Lei Huang, 47 year old, the brother-in-law of the victim, had fled prior to the officer's arrival in a white pick-up truck.
Based on information from parties at the scene, it was believed that Huang may have fled to an address on Franklin St. Investigators had also developed information that he may be en route to San Francisco International Airport. As the Franklin Ave. address was being cleared by a SWAT team, San Francisco Police Department advised that they had arrested Huang without incident as he entered the terminal at San Francisco.
At this point the motive for the killing appears to be "family issues." Anyone with additional information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Fremont Police Department Investigative Unit at (510) 790-6900.
