Friday, February 5

Officers spoke to a robbery victim who came to the front counter of the police department to report the crime. The victim said he was held up at gun point as he was walking through condominiums near Swan Court and Skylark Drive. This case is under investigation.

Officers responded to the area of 4th Street on a report of a shooting involving injured victims. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims suffering from bullet wounds. Both victims were transported to local trauma hospitals. One suspect is expected to recover. The other expired from his injuries. This case is under investigation as a possible gang homicide.

Monday, February 8

Officers arrested a male suspect who threatened a police officer. In this case, a UCPD officer was seated in his police car in the parking lot of the Quick Stop Market on Whipple Road. A male suspect walked up and appeared agitated. He began threatening the officer and kicking the side of the patrol vehicle. The suspect was extremely intoxicated and was arrested for numerous charges.

Tuesday, February 9

Officers investigated a robbery that occurred at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. In this case, two suspects were arrested after they grabbed a cash box from a victim at the hotel. Crowne Plaza employees and conference attendees chased after the suspects. The suspects were apprehended prior to UCPD arrival. Two male suspects, one from Union City and the other from Oakland, were taken to jail on robbery charges.

Officers detained a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Best Value Inn. The driver was detained and found in possession of a firearm and drugs for sale. He went to jail on numerous charges.

Thursday, February 11

Officers from the Gang Task Force, COPPS, and Fremont Street Crimes units served search warrants at gang members' residences in Union City and Hayward from the vandalism and hate crimes case occurring at Logan High School last week. The juvenile gang member suspect in the case was arrested.

Officers responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon. As officers approached the home, they could hear screaming from within. An entry was made and officers discovered a large amount of blood all over kitchen floor and victim lying on the floor beside his mother in that puddle of blood. The suspect was present and he was arrested. The weapon was a knife; the victim will recover from his wound to his arm.
