Hayward Chamber of Commerce honored Steven Miller with its Business Person of the Year Award at its Annual Gala on January 30 at California State University, East Bay.
When he stood atop the Hayward Hills and took in the breath-taking view over rolling green hills to the San Francisco Bay and across to the Peninsula, he knew he was in the right spot. Stonebrae, the first country club in Hayward, has 650 family homes, a world-class golf course, an elementary school and well-appointed country club amenities.
Miller possesses exemplary character and leadership, professionally and personally. The founding of Stonebrae Country Club is testament to his resolve, creativity and business acumen. For years, the project was reviewed by government entities that wished to change or deny it. Despite the intense scrutiny, he completed the project successfully.
He has served the Hayward community for more than two decades, exhibiting leadership and dedication to the lives he has touched. As Honorary Deputy Sheriff of Alameda County, he brings keen insight, passion and leadership to the corporate and voluntary sectors. Many organizations have benefitted from his committed volunteerism and philanthropy, including the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, Hayward Area Parks & Recreation District, Sun Gallery, East Bay Regional Parks District, Hayward Firefighters Association, Hayward Education Foundation, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Hayward Police Officers Association.
Miller is the epitome of how to lead life with a purpose and vision greater than his own. He is a devoted husband and father whose family is his priority. His family, friends and the City bring out the best in him and he, in turn, brings out the best in them. He is a man of integrity, character and generosity whose leadership will continue to influence and inspire the Hayward community for years to come.
