February 10, 2010 > Rotary Speech Contest Rotary Speech Contest Submitted By Frank De Smidt Photos By courtesy of Frank De Smidt The Milpitas Rotary Club held its annual speech contest on Monday, February 1 as part of the Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest. Open to local high school students, the theme this year was "The Future Of Rotary Is In Your Hands." Most Bay Area Rotary Clubs hold local speech contests at this time and the Milpitas winner, Arthur Tran, will compete at an area level event soon. The winner of that competition will compete in a regional contest and the chance to go to the 2010 Rotary District 5170 Annual Conference in Monterey April 23-25. Dean Trinh won this local speech contest many years ago describing his escape from Vietnam. After completing his education and establishing himself, his family and his career he joined the Milpitas Rotary Club.
