Appointment to the California Commission for Economic Development
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Henry Yin of Fremont to the California Commission for Economic Development.
Yin has served as founder and President of USA-China-Link, an international trade consulting company since 2002. He is also a co-founder and Chairperson of Green Laboratories, Inc., founded in July 2009, and founder and President of Giant Y, Inc., an electronics equipment manufacturing business, since 1985. Between 1974 and 1985, he held management positions with four Silicon Valley engineering companies - Silicon Graphics, Artec International, Qume Corporation and Arthur G. McKee.
Previously, Yin was a City of Fremont Economic Development Commissioner, Chair of Fremont Chamber of Commerce, President of Fremont Rotary Club and co-founder and past-President of Citizens for Better Community (CBC). He is the current Vice-Chair of the Bay Area Chapter of Asian Pacific Islander Americans Public Affairs Association (APAPA).
Initially, Yin will evaluate trade opportunities for California in high tech, green industries, agriculture and other high priority issues.
This position does not require Senate confirmation. Yin is registered decline-to-state (unaffiliated with a party).
