Hayward Police looking for suspect in mall shooting

Hayward Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that took place on Saturday, January 23 around 3 p.m. in front of Kohl's store in the Southland Mall. Police surrounded the mall and closed several nearby streets for about an hour while a thorough search of the mall was conducted.
The suspect is around 18 to 20 years old, a dark skinned Hispanic, 5 foot 11 inches tall, thin build around 170 lbs and was spotted wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a handgun, Criminal Investigations Bureau, Lt. Christine Orrey told TCV. HPD will release further information when the investigation is completed.
