January 27, 2010 > Letter to the Editor: Correction of recycling article Letter to the Editor: Correction of recycling article A Jan. 20 Tri-City Voice article reported incorrectly that the state department responsible for California's beverage container recycling program, CalRecycle, issued a "recent press release" about the program. CalRecycle issued no such press release, nor were department officials contacted by the Tri-City Voice prior to publication of the article. The same article reported incorrectly that unredeemed deposits from beverage containers residents put in their curbside recycling bins remain in the state's beverage container recycling fund. In fact, these container deposits are redeemed by the curbside programs. Unredeemed deposits in the recycling fund come from beverage containers that are thrown in the trash and not recycled.
