Newark Memorial High School's Victor Pereira continued his excellence on the mat, winning the 147-pound division in the Mid-Cal tournament at Gilroy High School. Along the way, Pereira scored 4 pins and a decision victory.
Pereira was one of several Cougars who were victorious in Newark's 66-12 victory on Thursday in an MVAL match with Kennedy High School. Tung Le, Anthony Rubio, Trevor Hubby, Jacob Pratt, Jose Martinez, and Mick McElvogue also won their individual matches for Newark.
At the Tim Brown Memorial tournament hosted by Foothill High School in Sacramento, James Logan High School had three grapplers who medaled. Danny Mai (130 pounds) finished in third, Aremio Flores (103 pounds) took sixth place, and Allan Chan (152 pounds) finished eighth. |
