California Constitutional Reform - What Lies Ahead for California
Submitted By Dawn Abrahamson
The Tri-City Mayors in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark, and Union City will be hosting a public forum on proposals to reform the California Constitution.
There are two major initiatives to reform California's Constitution: 1) The California Forward 2010 Reform Plan, sponsored by California Forward. 2) Repair California, which has filed two ballot measures to call for a state Constitutional Convention.
Guest speakers from each of these initiatives will be on hand to present their views.
The Public Forum will be held on Monday, January 25 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Ohlone College's Newark campus in the Fremont Bank Community Conference Center. The Newark campus is located at 39399 Cherry Street in Newark.
Many questions remain about California's future and how the financial issues will be resolved this year and in future ones. Attend the meeting to hear different ideas about how to resolve some of these issues and how the proposed resolutions may affect each of these cities.
