Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Ryan Santos
This week the player spotlight finds Ryan Santos.
This young athlete of 7 years favors baseball as the sport of his choice. In his third year of baseball, Ryan will soon be pursuing another season with the farm league covering his specialty of second base.
Getting to the top of his game is a lot of work, so this young athlete keeps active in two other sports to maintain his edge: soccer and karate. Committed he is, so outside of practice Santos does his push-ups and sit-ups each and every night before he retires.
Ryan attends Brookvale Elementary School and is now in the second grade with math as a favorite subject. He looks forward to his studies simply because his teacher, Ms. Ynzunza, makes learning fun. When asked about a career path Santos didn't hesitate to claim fireman as his next title. When asked why he said, "I want to put out fires to save lives."
With a Red Devil pet fish and a Wii by his side, there's never a dull moment, even when it comes time to relax because you can bet that Spongebob will be on the TV set. Other favorites are hanging out with his friends and hitting the road in the RV; heading to locations such as Seacliff beach and Big Sur.
Favorite foods are simple for such a complex young man. Fried chicken for dinner and chocolate ice cream for dessert are the usual with a bag of Skittles always within reach for that extra energy burst.
