Registration for Mercy Brown Bag program
By Meenu Gupta
The Mercy Brown Bag Program, a food distribution program for low-income seniors, offered twice a month, will hold its annual registration on January 14 at the Newark Community Center. Registrants are invited to donate $10; proof of age and income and photo ID will be needed at registration.
To qualify for the program, monthly income should be $1,354 or less for a single person, $2,192 or less for a household of two or more. The program is open to seniors, 60 years and older, and is not restricted to Newark residents.
Following decisions taken at the budget reduction work session in Newark Council Chambers on January 7, the program will continue.
The registration date and venue remains unchanged though the distribution sites will change in February. Updated information will be published in February issues of TCV
