Science for kids
By Meenu Gupta
Young inquisitive minds can have a myriad of questions about their environment. Science classes at Math Science Nucleus (MSN), a non-profit organization seek to answer these queries. Beginning in January, MSN will hold a Saturday Science Academy and After School Science Classes for K-3rd Graders and 3rd to 6th Graders. "We will also have a Spring Break Camp coming up in April," said Education Coordinator, Math Science Nucleus, Laurey Hemenway. "Registration is going now for all of these classes."
Exploring concepts through exciting, educational and hands-on projects, Saturday Science Academy students will experience their environment in a stimulating manner . All classes will be held either at the Math Science Nucleus or Tule Ponds. Each child will be provided with a snack and all materials for "make and take" projects.
Registration fee for members is $30 per session and $35 for non-members. Classes begin Saturday, January 9 and cover a variety of subjects including weather, organisms of wetlands and lessons on gravity, optics, magnetism to name a few. Students will have access to a planetarium as they explore the universe and learn about water pollution while touring Tule Ponds.
