December 30, 2009 > Watercolor classes Watercolor classes The Fremont Art Association (FAA) will hold Creative Watercolor classes presented by artist, Grace Rankin. These classes are designed for all levels. Rankin will teach traditional painting methods and explore various ways to add texture with everyday items. Rankin will be showing a selection of her watercolor paintings through February 15, at the Essanay Cafe' located at 37533 Niles Blvd., in Fremont She will also hit the high seas teaching during a two week cruise from San Diego to Alaska to Vancouver BC at the end of April on the Celebrity Cruise Lines ship "Millennium." Award-winning artist and teacher, Grace Rankin began painting in 1980 as a hobby which quickly became a full time career. Her commitment to art is evident in her compelling watercolors, oils, pastels and mixed media. Her paintings possess a vital energy and presence that reflect the sensitivity and color sense of this natural artist. When asked how she expresses herself in her paintings, Rankin says that she thinks of her paintings as vehicles for feelings and moods as well as ideas. "I want my paintings to reach out to the viewer so that he/she will relate to how I feel about subject," states Rankin. Her paintings have hung in the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, the Triton Museum in Santa Clara and in the Fresno Metropolitan Art Museum. Currently her art may be viewed at the FAA Gallery and Washington Hospital in Fremont, Dr Kenneth Chin's office in Union City, as well as Crescent Harbor Gallery, in Crescent City. You can enroll and pick up your Class Supply List at the FAA Gallery located at 37659 Niles Boulevard in Fremont. The classes are held at the FAA Gallery from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Monday's January, 4, 18 and 25. The fee is $20 per class or $50 for all three sessions.
