Training programs in the arts

StarStruck Theatre will be holding an inaugural session of the START Program as they celebrate their fifteenth season. START (Student Training in the ARTS) is for children interested in gaining theatrical skills essential for every young artist.

START, a non-profit, tuition based teaching program by industry professionals, trains children in the art of acting, singing, physical movement and dancing. Each class has a 10 child minimum for enrollment and a maximum of 20 students. Classes will culminate in a day of sharing when workshop results will be presented to other participants. Sharing performances are open to family and friends.

Once enrollment information is received, confirmation will be sent. Payment is due in full at time of registration.



START Classes


Musical Theatre Workshop
Mondays 1-25 to 3-29
Instructor: Casi Maggio
Ages 7-9
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ages 10-12
4:35 p.m. to 5:35 p.m.
Enrollment Fee: $180

This class is designed to give students an introduction to the world of musical theatre through song and dance. We will work on pieces from Oliver, Annie and Peter Pan, culminating in sharing "The Orphans of Broadway." This class is perfect for the beginning to intermediate student or the student who loves musical theatre, but does not have time to commit to a main stage production. Students will have the experience of being a part of an ensemble, gain a sense of accomplishment, and most of all have fun with musical theatre.



Physical Improv and Storytelling
Tuesdays 1-26 to 3-30
Instructor: Kathryn Zdan
Ages 5-7
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ages 6-8
4:35 p.m. to 5:35 p.m.
Enrollment Fee: $180

In this class we will learn to get rid of inhibitions by getting out of our heads and into a creative space. We will use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to create atmosphere, pictures, and character. Each student will engage their own imagination and find ways of expressing their own ideas, sensibilities, and stories, as well as ensemble work and creation. Ideal for both beginners and advanced students, this class is all about having fun and expressing yourself in new ways.



Acting for the Stage
Wednesdays 1-27 to 3-31
Instructor: Marissa Keltie
Ages 7-9
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ages 10-12
4:35 p.m. to 5:35 p.m.
Enrollment Fee: $180

Is your child ready for a life on the stage? This course allows your young artist to explore the tools that every actor needs to be comfortable on stage. The student will explore their imaginations, and learn how to communicate ideas. Your artist will discover how to use their bodies and voice as a tool and connect this to developing a character. Creative Drama is a wonderful introduction to the theatre and a way to build confidence through a fun theatrical journey.



Group Voice Lessons
Thursdays 1-28 to 4-1
Instructor: Jeff Oliveira
Ages 7-9
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ages 10-12
4:35 p.m. to 5:35 p.m.
Enrollment Fee: $180

Interested in improving your vocal skills? Whether it's for an audition or just for fun, this is the perfect class for you! Group voice lessons are designed to focus on basic techniques and musicality skills, including: breathing, posture, tone, theory and song selection in a fun and positive learning environment.
