Milpitas Alliance for Better Child Care
By Meenu Gupta
If you are a licensed family childcare provider or interested in becoming one, this group is for you. The Milpitas Alliance for Better Child Care is a local group of family childcare providers dedicated to networking and communicating in support of each other and the children and families in their care. Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Milpitas Community Center or at a hosting child care provider's home.
"The Milpitas Alliance for Better Child Care is an informal support group designed with the licensed family childcare provider in mind," said Toby Librande, City of Milpitas Childcare Coordinator. "The usual participants are women, who live in and around Milpitas, who have been licensed by Community Care Licensing to care for small or large groups of children in their homes. This group is not intended for parents, unless they are also licensed family child care providers."
The organization will hold their first meeting of 2010 on Tuesday, January 12. A tax primer for family childcare providers will be presented by Enrolled Agent (EA) James Houston. Houston has been a national trainer for many years teaching software, hardware, maintenance and diagnostics. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Business, worked as a Senior Analyst for high-tech companies like Sun Microsystems and Quantum Corporation, started tax preparation in 2002 and became an Enrolled Agent in 2003. He is currently teaching IRS VITA, Small Business, Payroll Tax and Childcare workshops.
All questions related to taxes, audits and arranging expense receipts will be answered in this informative and interesting workshop designed for family childcare providers. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP. Call or email Toby Librande at (408)-586-3077 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
