Medication management for RCFE personnel

The RCFE (residential care facilities for the elderly) workgroup has developed a training program on Medication Management for RCFE personnel. The goal of the workgroup is to improve care services to frail seniors living in board and care home through the provision of continuing education and community engagement. The RCFE is a California. State approved vendor for continuing education units for RCFE owners, operators and staff. This 4-hour course, #826040715751, meets California State requirements for medication training for direct care staff and managers of RCFE as set forth by AB2609.
The course will provide an overview of licensing requirements and best practices of proper medication management. Topics include: communicating with medical professionals, five rights of clients taking medication, signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions, documentation, and proper storage and disposal of medications. The course will be presented by Doris Wong, PharmD, BCPS, Washington Hospital Healthcare System, and will be held on January 11 at the Washington Hospital West Anderson Conference Rooms from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The program costs $20 per registrant.
