Community Development Block Grant applications invited
Submitted By City of Milpitas
The City of Milpitas will initiate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application process on January 4, 2010 for FY 2010-11. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a non-profit organization that meets one of the national objectives: benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, aid in the prevention of slums and blight or meet an urgent community need.
The city anticipates CDGB funding of approximately $590,109 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for FY 2010-2011. Federal regulations limit the funding of public-service activities to 15 percent and non-public services activities to 65 percent of the city's CDBG allocation.
Milpitas City Council has established CDBG priorities for the city.
Public services priorities include senior services, youth or teen services, services and shelters for the homeless, child care or battered women services or shelters.
Non-public services include home repair or rehabilitation, affordable housing and rental apartment rehabilitation.
Applicants will be notified when the CDBG applications are reviewed by the Milpitas Community Advisory Commission (CAC) and City Council.
